We managed to push our way through the crowds early this morning (9:00) at the annual church garage sale in a posh Denver neighborhood. I pass this church every morning on my way to work so it was nice to actually see the inside for a change. Joseph and I immediately found two pictures that match our flat perfectly. I recognized the Albrecht Dürer monogram from the prints we saw with Emilie. It just so happened that the $1 Dürer picture is of a hare matted in bright yellow with a thick wood frame. The other picture is a 15-16th Century Dutch portrait of an affluent young woman. Just my kind of painting
I recently studied these at the DAM and decided this is my new favorite genre of art. (you can revisit these paintings on my Neuf Francs) The portrait is encased in a thick black and gilded wood frame.

Our other purchase for the day is an unused Guy Degrenne Salam teapot! I adore having tea, but this teapot makes teatime even more enjoyable. I’m very proud of our finds.

Originally produced in 1953 by French Silversmith Guy Degrenne, the Salam Teapot is a tea lovers dream come true. The bright white teapot has its own infuser basket as well as an ingenious felt-lined stainless steel cozy that keeps tea piping hot! It’s a classic example of mid-century modern design - the perfect marriage of form & function.

Tomorrow Bree leaves for Shannon, Ireland with Noah! I wish I could go with them! Bon Voyage!
Who can resist the sweet sound of an Irish accordion?
There are so many styles of Irish music and I’ve heard the good and the bad. Some have a jazzy sound, others are influenced by 90’s world beat, and my favorite is the no thrills traditional sound of Irish music. I think it is the most enjoyable to dance to. If you are looking for a comprehensive list of Irish [dance] music visit Crazy for Irish Dance. I know - not the most inventive name is it?
My current favorite accordion musician is David Lindquist.

Shout out to BMisc for always having amusing perspectives on politics, economics, sports, and randomness.
Exciting day in my life. Joseph and I got our gift card in the mail for Crate & Barrel and bought an OXO Salad Spinner.

This is just after we ate salad for dinner and I asked Joseph if we could look for a spinner at the Goodwill. We saved the rest of our gift card for something in the future. Joseph and I also made a stop at The Container Store to check out their elfa shelving units. We are installing open shelves above our sink! Finally! I like to think of it as a very cute “European” kitchen to make myself feel better about living in small spaces. It has become quite the trend these days to live in 500 sq feet (or a tad bit more). If anyone watches Oprah you would know she has featured this concept several times. Thanks Nate Berkus.
I continue to pile books on the growing stack of literature from the library. I am taking a week off work to recover from the sinus surgery and to be honest I can’t spend every minute doing work. I plan on reading Gordon Ramsay’s biography and some sewing books such as my newest addition, Bend-The-Rules Sewing; the essential guide to a whole new way to sew. I adore my new sewing machine (Joseph’s holiday gift), but I am still a novice. Jaren and Emilie are two friends who really know their way around thread and needle so I’m hoping their knowledge can be passed on to me
While searching for inspiration around home and design I found new websites. They are never ending and I feel I must chase them down. Although I have to say I have lost some to my poor memory. I’ll add them to my blogroll and del.ic.ious! Enjoy!

I know these aren’t the most exciting posts in the world, but hey we can all find pleasure in the simple things in life… like clean lettuce.

Katie and I are like twins most days at work - even down to our shoes. We enjoy sporting our preppy J.Crew collared shirts and sweater vests. My wool black sweater vest has become somewhat my home. I practically live in it these days. I’m not quite sure how I became so preppy! I don’t mind. I guess it is due in part to being a secret (or not so secret) Anglophile. A co-worker of mine, Jim, once said that we (of primarily English decent) can’t help our Anglophilia - it is in our blood

Jaren has discovered the secret to selling out on Etsy - just get your product to show up on Apartment Therapy! Jaren really wanted to buy this Claire Nereim print, but as soon as it hit Apartment Therapy it sold like hot cakes. I think it is charming - I wouldn’t mind having it in my home either. But I must say Jaren has excellent taste
