In two weeks I’ll be dancing in Winter Feis, an Irish dance competition just outside the city. I missed the entire month of December so needless to say I’m a little rusty. My first week back to the studio I could barely remember my steps! And on top of that my gillies of many years finally busted.

It was a sad day, but life goes on. I had a good day dancing; I felt I was really focused and my legs responded well to everything. Feeling the feis day approaching soon and no soft shoes to wear, I decided to break down and pay for new gillies. I’m used to old-school tough-as-nails leather bottoms and no support, but my new shoes are spoiling me - they are padded! I declined from entering any hard shoe dances, but I will be competing in my ligh jig, slip jig, and reel. I’m keeping it simple - I’m not in high school any more.
