My Christmas gift from Joseph is pretty awesome.

It isn’t my mother’s Singer, that is for sure. Although the classic 1940’s era Singer sewing machine is like the Leica – a magical lure that you can’t put your finger on – sure it doesn’t work like the best of the best, but it is really cool to have and use. My new sewing machine is a leap into the future of sewing. It is the Brother CE-4000, the middle road of sewing machines. It is a pretty white and blue plastic table top machine that has the “new car” smell. Joseph assisted me in setting up our new addition. I think I saw him get really excited. He even bought me new fabric scissors by Fiskar and dark charcoal thread. Both of us are amazed at the range of stitches and the ease of threading. It even does it for you. How great is that? My grandmother would be envious.
My first project is to sew not glue my wool bag (on Flickr) together so I can use it without fear of it falling apart.
Then it is off to 9F to design my new projects!
