This weekend Joseph and I did some pretty crazy stuff! Friday night we met up with Jaren, Patrick, Jessica, Glen, and Cory to eat Chicken Tikka Masala (our Indian fav) then topped it off with a little night cap at a pretty non-special bar on Broadway. Broadway seems to be the place where scum and transients congregate.
The next morning we bum-tested multiple sofas at the American Furniture Warehouse, but did not succeed at finding the perfect fit for our little flat. It is difficult to settle for something that isn’t special. We were pretty hungry after a long morning of shopping and headed over to Marzcyk’s for an Italian sausage sandwich – deli style. It is a small market that specializes in locally produced foods and wine. It reminds me of Dean & Deluca, but better AND local. We probably spend an hour there! We took home a box of chocolate chip oatmeal cookie mix made by Denver women who are down-and-out on their luck. It is a program called Women’s Bean Project.
I helped create the Knitting Club at school, so to compensate for my terrible crocheting and knitting I bought pretty vintage taffeta and velvet ribbons, a charcoal wool, and a shiny brass button. I forced Joseph to go into the millinery store! He did a good job of not complaining (too much). I thought I would make a bag to tote my yarn and hooks around school! I’ll leave the expertise knitting to the other girls
Saturday night Joseph and I cruised the mall to look at the Christmas goodies this year. I used my $5 off coupon on a cupcake carrier (and bake set) at Bed Bath and Beyond. Then to top off our fun-filled crazy Saturday night – we watched ELF and baked that cookie mix we bought at Marczyk’s. I finished my knitting tote – We are a wild bunch.
SUNDAY! Worked at Panera for an hour on my new blog! We also found my dream couch finally! It is a gorgeous creamy golden yellow, with a quilted back (little yellow fabric buttons), brass tacked, elegant and comfy, lacking stains and ware of any type, French provincial, 1960’s Drexel dream couch! My favorite detail in our shopping adventure was that we bought the couch for under $300 in the basement of a store on Broadway that was blaring musical tunes! A perfect match! Joseph also found his dream club chair – perfect for reading his CATO books and checking random facts on the internet.
We’ll have our house looking like a real house soon enough – hopefully in time for Kari’s visits!
